Get the Look: Taylor Momsen

I know what you're thinking. "Hey Tara, you haven't blogged in, um, six months! You better have a good explanation for this!" The truth is, I never had a lot of followers to begin with. But that's not the reason I stopped blogging. Would you believe me if I told you I forgot my password and couldn't restore my Google account for six months? I didn't think so. But that's what happened. I'm such an airhead but I promise to make it up to you cuties. Since I'm back at school, I have a lot of homework to do but there will always be the occasional Get the Look or Beauty Buzz post. Speaking of which, today's Get the Look star is...

...Taylor Momsen! Taylor's style is widely recognized as grunge-rock. In actual fact, her look is very simple and affordable.

#1: Find the outfit. Taylor Momsen's rebel-chic style can be copied by just about anyone. All you need in a dark top, a black leather jacket, ripped jeans (or a brightly colored skirt to pop against the darker tones) and boots. Below are some ideas I've put together for a Taylor-inspired outfit.

#2: Style your hair. If you're thinking of getting your hair done professionally like Taylor's, ask for a mid-length razor-cut style with lots of choppy layers. Texturizing is also a good idea. For sleek strands, apply a smoothing cream (such as Victoria's Secret So Sexy Supersmooth Smoothing Balm) to dry hair and use a flat-iron on small sections of hair from root to tips. Slowly run the flat iron down the hair shaft and hold through to the ends without rotating it. Finish with a texturizing hairspray (such as Pantene Pro-V Texture Hairspray) for glossy definition.

#3: Apply the makeup. Taylor is infamous for her 'panda eyes' yet not everyone can pull of the smudged eyelids look. Experiment with navy blue or plum mascara to make the whites of your eyes appear brighter and to break away from mainstream noir. Key to Taylor Momsen’s rock and roll appeal is smudged eyeliner with a slept-in effect. Do your smoky eye as usual and smudge it out with your finger. Create a hooded bedroom eye with copious amounts of liquid liner and full strips of false lashes, which will weigh down the lids slightly. Get even all over with a little help from a pressed powder foundation, the perfect antidote for an oily complexion. Skip the blush. Bubblegum brights and brick reds make a statement for both lips and eyes. (Makeup info from Taaz.com).

There you have it! Gosh, I've missed blogging. I'm afraid I don't know when I'll have time to post next but I really hope there are still people out there who read Couture Cuties! Stay fabulous...
